The Club

three teams

The Club

We are Ibis Eagles AFC, merged in 2015 from Ibis FC and BB Eagles.  The merger hides the huge amount of heritage we have as separate clubs, combined totalling 204 years in total.  We play our football in the SAL (Southern Amateur League) – you can find out more here.

We are a small club by comparison to our neighbours, but one that has consistently won silverware and will continue to do so.  This year we are running 5 teams on Saturday, and a Vets team on Sunday.

For a very thorough look back on the history of the two clubs, check out the work of David Bauckham and his article Joint Account.

The Teams

We run 5 teams every Saturday, offering a wide range of playing standards and always looking for new players. Our teams play in the Southern Amateur League and various Cup competitions including the SAL, AFA, and LFFA.

We also have a Vets team that plays in Cup competitions during the season.

On Saturday

The new season is tentatively scheduled for a 10th September start for the 2022/23 season.  When managers request your availability for the next few months, please confirm asap so they can prepare squads in good time for Saturday.

Our home games are played at either Chiswick Cricket Club, Old Meadonians Playing Fields, or GSK, Swyncombe Playing Fields near Boston Manor/Northfields.

Saturday is not all about the football match.  Following the game, you are expected to participate in hospitality provided, as well as stick around for a drink or two with your teammates (life allowing) to build the team and club spirit, Home or Away.

Coronavirus will impact some of this for the foreseeable future.

Training

During pre-season, we train at Dukes Meadow playing field every Wednesday from 7pm until it starts to get dark. The ground is very hard and dry, so consider wearing turf or firm ground boots.

During the season, we usually run training every Wednesday from 7 pm to 9 pm at Ark Burlington Danes Academy in Shepherds Bush, a 10-minute walk from Wood Lane or White City tube stations.

The sessions are run by qualified coaches and your attendance is expected, but please make sure you wear Astros or similar – no boots allowed.

Code of Conduct

As an Ibis Eagles player, you will be expected to play the game in the best traditions of sportsmanship, self-discipline and hospitality.  We have a full code of conduct on our website, please study and follow it carefully here.

Simply put, show respect for your teammates, opponents, referees and yourself.  At no point is this more important than on match day.

Membership Contributions

Membership contribution per year is £130 standard, £65 for a student.
