The Club

three teams

The Club
We are Ibis Eagles AFC, merged in 2015 from Ibis FC and BB Eagles.  The merger hides the huge amount of heritage we have as separate clubs, combined totalling 204 years in total.  We play our football in the SAL (Southern Amateur League) – you can find out more here.

We are a small club by comparison to our neighbours, but one that has consistently won silverware and will continue to do so.  This year we are running 3 teams on Saturday, and a Vets team on Sunday.  From next year, we are looking to increase to 4 teams.

For a very thorough look back on the history of the two clubs, check out the work of David Bauckham and his article Joint Account.

The Teams
We run 3 teams every Saturday, offering a wide range of playing standards and always on the lookout for new players. Our teams play in the Southern Amateur League and various Cup competitions including the SAL, AFA, and LFFA.

We also have a Vets team that play in Cup competitions during the season.

On Saturday
We have league games starting from the 7th September for the 2019/20 season.  When managers request your availability for the next few months, please confirm asap so they can prepare squads in good time for Saturday.

Our home games are played at either Chiswick Cricket Club or GSK, Swyncombe Playing Fields near Boston Manor/Northfields.

Saturday is not all about the football.  Following the game, it is expected you take part in hospitality provided, as well as stick around for a drink or two with your teammates (life allowing) to build the team and club spirit, Home or Away.

Training
From Wednesday 4th September 2019, we run training every Wednesday 8.00-9.00pm at Club des Sports in East Acton, a 10-minute walk from East Acton station on the Central line.

The sessions are run by qualified coaches and your attendance is expected, but please make sure you wear Astros or similar – no boots allowed.

Code of Conduct
As an Ibis Eagles player, you will be expected to play the game in the best traditions of sportsmanship, self-discipline and hospitality.  We have a full code of conduct on our website, please study and follow it carefully here.

Simply put, show respect for your teammates, opponents, referees and yourself.  At no point is this more important than on match day.

Membership
Membership per year is £120 standard, £60 for a student.
